Mindfulness - Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment. Engage in a variety of relaxing mindfulness activities, light stretching and movement, meditation, and grounding practices.

Ask a Mental Health Expert - Have you ever wondered what the coping skills for anxiety are? Would you like to get connected to books or resources on self-esteem? Do you need help navigating accessing a therapist or other mental health provider? Mental Health Services team members with backgrounds in psychiatric nursing, counselling, therapeutic recreation, community development and conflict resolution will be present at each branch with a tabling to answer any questions that you may have.

Workshops

Managing Anxiety: What is anxiety? How many kinds of anxiety are there? How does it present itself and affect our lives? Learn the basics and the evidence based coping skills that help you to understand, manage and change your relationship with anxiety.

Managing Depression: Learn about depression, its risk factors and the way it affects our body and mind. Learn coping skills for managing it, including the pace and gentleness with which depression needs and deserves to be responded to.

Building Self-Esteem: Through various creative means, participants will explore their view of themselves. Explore barriers that hold you back from having a healthy self-esteem and experiment with ways to improve feelings of self-compassion and self-worth.

Managing Stress: A stress management workshop. Participants will explore strategies for dealing with stress and practice applying coping strategies in stressful situations. Participants will also have the opportunity to create a plan for dealing with a current stressor
