A Bold New Vision
The community in downtown Winnipeg has diverse needs, many of which are not being fully met. There is a shortage of Community Centres and spaces for community programming downtown and demand is growing for quality child care and services that provide support for newcomers to Canada, people managing chronic health conditions and mental health, especially among youth. As a charity focused on Building Healthy Communities, we are envisioning a future for our historic downtown location that helps meet these needs.
Meeting the Need
We envision a thriving community hub that delivers health and recreation excellence and equitable access to community programs in a welcoming and safe environment. The Heart of the City Campaign will fulfill this vision with modernized facilities focused around seven major components:
- Accessibility at the Forefront
- Child Care Expansion
- Newcomer Services Expansion
- Mental Health Services Expansion
- Indoor Splash Pad
- Community Classrooms
- Corporate Relocation
