Sports & Recreation

At the Y, we believe fitness can be fun. We offer a multitude of sports and recreational options for you to be active, be social, and reconnect (or start fresh!) with an activity you love.

Explore our activities:

  • Preschool Sports, Rec & Leisure - Registered
  • Creative Movement (Ages 4 & 5 years)

    This fun-filled class will encourage your child’s imagination and creative expression using dance, rhythm and music. A great way to play actively while building confidence in a group.

  • Gymnastics (Ages 4 & 5 years)

    Young gymnasts will have fun while learning fundamental movement and basic gymnastics taught by our trained instructors.

  • Gym & Swim (3–5 years)

    Under the guidance of our trained instructors, children will enjoy songs, games, guided movement and free play in the gym followed by Lil’ Dippers swimming lessons in the pool.

  • Gym & Swim - Parented (6–36 months)

    Spend some quality time with your kid and be active together. Parents play alongside their child and enjoy songs, games, guided movement and free play provided by our trained instructors in both the gym and pool.

  • Adventures in Art (4 & 5 years)

    Encourage your child’s creative side through painting, colouring, drawing and more. Kids will develop fine motor coordination while gaining confidence and having fun.

  • Craft & Storytime (4 & 5 years)

    Spark your child’s imagination and creativity through storytelling! This class features a carefully selected story read for the group accompanied with a craft that ties into the story. Kids get the chance to practice fine motor coordination, build confidence and gain self-esteem.

  • Indoor Playground (5 years & under)

    Bring the whole family and drop-in on our indoor family playground! Play, run and bounce while meeting other families in the community. Soft play equipment, ride toys and a bouncy castle are set up in the gym. Explore basic movement skills like running, jumping, climbing, twisting, kicking, throwing and catching. Parent involvement required.

  • Soccer (4 & 5 years)

    Come play the world’s most popular sport indoors! Play in the gymnasium while learning the rules and receiving basic instruction. A great way to get moving and meet others while building confidence and teamwork skills.

  • Sports & Games (4 & 5 years)

    Kids can jump, shoot and score while playing a variety of sports and games. Make friends, have fun and learn the values of fair play through basic sports and teamwork.

  • Youth Sports, Rec & Leisure - Registered
  • Gymnastics

    A recreation-based program promoting the development of fundamental movement and gymnastics skills through progressive skill development using a variety of apparatus and routines.

  • Hip Hop

    Time to get your groove on! Kids will get their heart pumping through this modern dance class filled with popular dance steps seen in all the latest music videos. Under the guidance of a trained and experienced dance instructor, kids will explore hip hop dance techniques and moves, progressing to the showcase of a dance routine at the end of the session.

  • Jazz/Ballet

    Introduce your child to the fun and fitness of ballet and jazz dance! Under the guidance of an experienced dance instructor, kids will learn fundamental ballet and jazz techniques and moves, progressing to the showcase of a dance routine at the end of the session.

  • Karate

    There is so much more to karate than wax-on, wax-off! Karate improves strength, coordination and agility while fostering courage, courtesy, self-control and respect. Participants will learn the fundamentals of karate movement and technique under the guidance of qualified black belt instructors.

  • Steve Nash Basketball

    Come shoot some hoops with us! This skill-development program is led by coaches that are NCCP Community Coach certified. While emphasizing fun and teamwork, kids are taught dribbling, passing and shooting skills in a recreational setting. Skills are taught progressively each week and are adjusted for varying skill levels.

  • Tae Kwon Do

    Kick, block, spar! Learn the basic techniques of Tae Kwon Do in a safe and fun atmosphere. Discipline, character, self-control and respect will be fostered under the guidance of qualified black belt instructors through skills that increase stamina, strength, focus and confidence.

  • Triathlon Kids (Ages 8-12 years)

    Set the bar high! Learn the sport of triathlon and train in a positive, energetic and non-intimidating environment. Participants will use the pool, gymnasium and stationary bikes for training.

  • Kid Fit Sport (6–12 years)

    Run! Jump! Catch! Throw! Introduce your child to the basic concepts, skills and movements used in a variety of sports. Each week children will have the opportunity to learn and progress through the fundamentals of sport and movement, giving them the confidence and physical competence vital for lifelong enjoyment of sport and recreation.

  • Kid Fit Play (6–12 years)

    It’s fun, active and exciting! With age-appropriate obstacle courses and interactive activities, this circuit-based program is designed to enhance fundamental movement skills, improve stamina, and develop physical literacy. With an emphasis on play, the Kid Fit Play program provides children with the building blocks to lead active, healthy lives.

  • Adventures in Art

  • Badminton

    Smash! This fun introduction to the game of badminton teaches kids basic skills and enhances coordination and agility while building confidence and self-esteem.

  • Basketball

    Run the court, pass the ball and shoot some hoops in this fun, active game of pickup basketball.

  • Climbing

    Challenge your child through this supervised indoor climbing wall class designed to build strength, agility and confidence. Help them reach higher, conquer their fears and stretch themselves in a safe and fun environment.

  • Dodgeball

    Quick, duck! Give your kid a chance to be active while having a laugh through the game of dodgeball. Kids will keep moving and hone their reflexes while playing various renditions of this classic game.

  • Floor Hockey

    Channel your inner Wayne Gretzky! Give your child a chance to be active and have fun while playing Canada’s game in the gymnasium.

    All the fun and energy of some of your favourite sports and games - but played with mini equipment! Make friends, have fun and learn the values of fair play as you shoot & pass, strike & rally.

  • Stay & Play the Table Way

    Game on! Give your game-loving child’s mind a workout and join us for some friendly competition around the games table. We’ve got a variety of board games to choose from and play.

  • Teen & Adult Sports, Rec & Leisure - Drop In
  • Badminton

    Come in and perfect your backhand! Drop-in and play some badminton against other members or bring a friend. Nets will be set up, and birdies and racquets are provided.

  • Basketball

    Basketball was invented by a Canadian at the YMCA and it’s still going strong! Join other members for some friendly hoops.

  • Floor Hockey

    Channel your inner Wayne Gretzky!  Be active, have fun and create friendships while playing Canada’s game in the gymnasium.

  • Soccer

    Come play the world’s most popular sport indoors. A great way to get moving and meet others. Come with your friends or on your own.

  • Volleyball

    Bump, set, spike! Meet other members looking to play volleyball (you don’t need to join a team to play) and enjoy free flowing and self-refereed games.

  • Family Sports, Rec & Leisure - Drop In
  • Family Badminton

    A chance for players of all ages to drop-in and play some recreational badminton together. Nets will be set up, and birdies and racquets are provided. Bring the whole family, or just yourself and enjoy the game of badminton!

  • Family Floor Hockey

    Join fellow members in a friendly drop-in game of floor hockey. It’s a great way to stay fit and have fun. Teams are made up on arrival and participants referee the games themselves. All skill levels welcome.
