FitME and FitME Youth* are complimentary one-on-one training sessions with a fitness staff member designed to get you started in the fitness centre. The FitME workout is created with education and confidence-building in mind. No matter your skill level or comfort in the fitness centre, you will be able to get started right away with the help of your FitME session.

During your one-hour session, our fitness staff will discuss your fitness goals, experience level, and any health concerns you might have. With this information, they will guide you through a plan that is safe, effective and age appropriate. FitME workouts are designed to focus on the fundamentals of exercise to help build your skills and confidence with a variety of training techniques and equipment.

Once your initial appointment is over, fitness staff will continue to be available throughout your journey to assist in developing your skills and teaching you new things! You will have a point of contact you can count on to help you as you grow.

*FitME Youth is specially designed for youth 9-12 years of age. Training and consultation sessions must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

In your session*, you & a fitness staff member will:

  • Discuss any exercise-related goals and interests you may have
  • Explain how working on these goals can fit into your existing routine - including exercises you currently do
  • Review fundamental elements of the fitness centre including: getting stared with a cardio machine, stretching for range-of-motion and flexibility plus basic resistance training techniques.
  • Create an introductory workout that incorporates all of the above pieces to create a well-rounded start to an exercise routine

At the end of your session*, you will:

  • Leave with a workout routine you can feel confident in doing
  • Have detailed trainer notes to help guide you through the exercises
  • Know who to approach if you have questions or want feedback
  • Feel comfortable and excited about exploring exercise with Y Winnipeg!

*FitME Youth sessions are to be attended by both the youth and parent/guardian
