Help kids be heroes to other kids
Support the “Kids Helping Kids” fundraising walk
Event Date: June 5, 2019 (rain date June 12)
About the Walk
This June, kids in the Y’s child care programs will participate in the third-annual Kids Helping Kids fundraising walk. The goal? To teach the nearly 1,900 children in our programs about philanthropy and the impact it has on the community. Children will fundraise throughout May and June in support of the walk. Then on June 5, they’ll become ‘superheroes’, donning capes and masks and taking to the streets in support of the community.
Why is this Walk important?
The Kids Helping Kids fundraising walk will help provide vital funding that enables the North Y Youth Centre, a recreation centre in Winnipeg’s north end, to continue providing its valuable programs and services to children and youth in need. A safe and welcoming place where kids can connect with one another, the North Y engages inner-city children and youth in positive activities that promote healthy living, foster social responsibility, and nurture potential. How do I support the Walk?
It’s simple – make a donation, big or small, in support of the Walk. All funds raised are directed to the North Y to help keep kids safe and off the streets. You can donate online at ywinnipeg.ca/donate or by visiting a membership sales & experience representative at your local health, fitness & aquatics branch.
Why support the Kids Helping Kids Fundraising Walk?
There are a few reasons to show your support for the Kids Helping Kids Fundraising Walk with a monetary donation:
- You will help make the Y’s programming and resources available to inner-city children who otherwise wouldn’t be able to access them.
- You will demonstrate the power of philanthropy to the kids participating in the Walk.
- You will feel good knowing that you have made a difference.
