Construction at the South Y
The YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg is committed to providing members and the community with accessible, and updated facilities.
Renovations are now almost complete at the South Y. Expansion plans include a new fitness centre and fitness studio, aquatic centre, 3 new change rooms, new lobby and reception area, expanded childcare centre, 2 multi-purpose rooms, 70 additional parking spaces, renewal of outdoor athletic fields and landscaping. The new aquatic centre has 2 pools, both with movable (variable depth) floors, an on-deck hot tub, steam room and slide complex. Projection completion is the beginning of August 2009.
Already completed work in St. Vital Memorial Park includes upgrades to soccer facilities, the addition of a perimeter walking trail, installation of a meeting-place pavilion and landscaping.
