Lifeguard
Wage: $10.60 per hour

Association Overview: The YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg is a charitable organization whose mission is to foster the growth and development of people and communities in spirit, mind and body. The YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg consists of 4 health, fitness and recreation facilities, 2 camps, Camp Stephens our resident camp and Camp Y, our newest residential camp and training facility, 3 preschool childcare centres and 29 school age centres with a total annual operating budget of $20.7 million. The Association offers programs and services including health, fitness and recreation, family and children’s services, camping, international development, employment training, women’s programs, mental health programs, fine option / community service order placements and community outreach programs.
Position Overview: As part of the aquatics team, this position will report directly to the Program Coordinator Aquatics, and will be responsible for maintaining a safe, enjoyable aquatic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise members in the pool area.
- Maintain a clean and hazard-free pool area.
- Where required, quick professional response to emergency situations and first aid treatment.
- Educate members when they are engaging in activities which may increase the risk of personal injury to themselves or others.
- Foster a good public image for the facility and the YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg in general.
- Maintain an appropriate level of fitness for lifeguarding in an indoor aquatic facility.
- Attend in-service training sessions as required.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preferred Qualifications
- National Lifeguard Service Award
- Aquatic Emergency Care Award (or Equivalent)
- Basic Rescuer CPR (or Equivalent, within last 12 months)
- 17 Years of Age (16 for Assistant)
