Lifeguard/Swim Instructor
Wage: $10.60 per hour

Association Overview: The YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg is a charitable organization whose mission is to foster the growth and development of people and communities in spirit, mind and body. The YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg consists of 4 health, fitness and recreation facilities, 2 camps, Camp Stephens our resident camp and Camp Y, our newest residential camp and training facility, 3 preschool childcare centres and 29 school age centres with a total annual operating budget of $20.7 million. The Association offers programs and services including health, fitness and recreation, family and children’s services, camping, international development, employment training, women’s programs, mental health programs, fine option / community service order placements and community outreach programs.
Position Overview: This is a part-time position with variable shifts throughout the day and weekends. As part of the aquatic team, this position will report directly to the Aquatic Program Coordinator and will be responsible for the delivery of swim lessons and providing a safe aquatic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Providing safe and enjoyable swim lessons
- Being prepared for lessons through appropriate planning
- Maintaining candidate records and evaluations
- Attending in-service training as required
- Ensuring qualifications are up to date
- Supervision of members while in the pool area
- Maintaining a clean and hazard-free pool area
- Fostering a good public image for the facility and the association in general
- Other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
- 16 years of age
- Current National Lifeguard Service (NLS) Award
- Current Standard First Aid or equivalent
- Current CPR C
- Current Water Safety Instructor (WSI) or YMCA Swimming Instructor Course
- Prior aquatic experience
